FCT RESEARCH CONTRACT

FCT RESEARCH CONTRACT

Isabel Carvalho, researcher at CIAC, was selected among the more than 4000 researchers who applied for the first Stimulus Contest for Scientific – Individual Employment, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology.

The project by Isabel Carvalho, Gender in Map – women empowerment in planning and urban development, evaluated by the panel Arts and Other Humanities, was approved for funding by the FCT. The research contract to be held between the researcher and the host institution – the CIAC at the Open University – will last for six years and will allow the development of research in the field of social innovation and participatory construction of urban environments, a highly current subject that, in this project, intends to study the specific gender perspective.

The evaluation panel considered that the objectives of this work proposal, overcoming gender inequality, promoting inclusion and improving participation through digital media dissemination, are related to more than one of the current goals of the ONU Agenda 2030 (directly addressing goal 5 as well as goals 4 and 11 of this Agenda). The evaluation panel also highlighted the positive impact of the multidisciplinary character of the project, which will allow the approach of different disciplinary fields, from the arts and humanities to the knowledge of digital techniques and quantitative research methods.
