PROFESSOR HONORIS CAUSA
Professor Adérito Fernandes Marcos distinguished with the Title Professor Honoris Causa in Brazil.
CIAC is pleased to inform that Professor and researcher Adérito Fernandes Marcos, Full Professor at the Open University of Portugal, CIAC researcher, member of the board of directors, founder and current director of the CIAC-UAb polo , will be distinguished with the title Professor Honoris Causa by the University Center Euripides de Marília – UNIVEM, in Brazil. The title attribution session is scheduled for 10 June at 10:00 am at the Shunji Nishimura Auditorium at UNIVEM.
In addition to this honorable distinction, the teacher will be honored as “Official Guest of the Municipality” granted by the Municipality of Marília, state of São Paulo.

Adérito Fernandes Marcos has a degree in Computer Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (1992), a PhD in Engineering from the Darmstadt University of Technology (1997) and a degree in Computer Science from the University of Minho (2000). He has been a tenured professor of Universidade Aberta in the Department of Science and Technology since 2013. In addition of being the Director of the PhD in Media-Digital Art since 2012, he was also the Director of the PhD in Technology and Web Science from 2015 until 2017.
His scientific research centers on the fields of Digital/Computer Art, Computer Graphics, (Cultural Heritage, Edutainment, Digital Narratives) E-learning, arteology and multimedia. He is part of the governing bodies of several scientific and technological institutions in the field of Computer Graphics, in particular EUROGRAPHICS – the European Association for Computer Graphics and the Portuguese Computer Graphics Group, over which he presided from October 2008 to February 2013. He has been presiding over Artech-Int – The International Association of Computer Graphics since January 2013. He was the cofounder of several series of workshops and conferences, such as “SIACG – First Ibero-American Symposium on Computer Graphics”, as well as the series of international conferences “Artech – International Conference in Digital Art”, having served as the chairman of the steering committee during their fifth edition.
