HANSPETER AMMANN

Hanspeter Ammann was born in 1953 in Zurich, Switzerland. He currently lives and works between Zurich, Bangkok and Shanghai, where he runs the Shanghai Studio, an Art Gallery and a Bar. In Bangkok, the artist collaborates with King Mongkut’s University.

Hanspeter Ammann began producing video art in the late 1970s, when it was still a relatively new art form in Europe. He is involved in many art projects in Bangkok and has just published, TAM THE BOXER ‘his first book in Thai. His video art work has been shown at various festivals, broadcast at many European stations and awarded at international competitions and festivals. The artist has also been responsible for curating international video art shows at museums and festivals.

Hanspetter Ammann has strong relations with Portugal, where he has realized some short films and participated in conferences. His work is present in the GULBENKIAN Foundation collection.
