Brief CV: Bruno Mendes da Silva is a post-doctoral fellow in Communication, Culture and Arts at the University of Algarve (UAlg), a PhD in Literature and Film/Comparative Literature/Literature at UAlg, a post-graduate degree in Arts Management at the Institute of European Studies of Macau (IEEM) and a degree in Film and Video at the Art School of Porto (ESAP).
He is Vice-coordinator of the Research Centre for Arts and Communication and Coordinator of the Communication Sciences Area of the School of Education and Communication (ESEC) of UAlg, Visiting Professor at Saint Joseph University of Macau. He was a director and producer for Teledifusão de Macau (TDM). He has participated, by invitation, in international festivals of video, digital media art and cinema, such as FRESH (Thailand), Dokanema (Mozambique), Loop (Spain), Festival de La Imagen and Ecologias Digitales (Colombia), The Script Road (China) and FILE (Brazil).
He has participated in twenty-two (22) scientific projects (as responsible researcher or research member) and is the author of several books, book chapters and other scientific publications (about 80). He has been an invited speaker in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Tunisia, Mozambique, Brazil, Colombia, Sri Lanka and China. He has supervised seven (7) doctoral theses. He is Director of Rotura – Revista de Comunicação, Cultura e Artes and member of the winning team of the Ceratonia 2008 scientific award.
Research Interests: He has dedicated the last decade to the research of the relations between Communication, Art and Technology. He is currently Vice-coordinator of the Center for Research in Arts and Communication and member of the Scientific Board of Artech International.
