Brief CV: José Manuel Basto Soares is Specialist (Specialist Title – DL nº 206/2009) in Visual Arts: Painting, Graphic Design and Video, by the polytechnic institutes of Beja, Lisbon and Santarém. Completed the doctoral course in Education, Culture and Society: Multidisciplinary foundation in Intervention in Socio-educational and Community Reality (completion of curricular units), specialization in art teaching, at the University of Vigo – Campus Ourense, Spain. Completed the specialization course in Multimedia Educational Communication at Universidade Aberta. Degree in Design – Graphic Art at Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto.
He coordinates the Scientific Area of Visual Arts, of the Department of Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Human Motricity, of the Higher School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (ESE | IPSantarém). He coordinated the Department of Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Human Motricity (2014 – 2018). He coordinates the Professional Higher Technical Course (TeSP) in Digital Design. Created and coordinated the TeSP Course in Painting and Illustration (2015 – 2018). He coordinated the Undergraduate Programme Degree in Education and Multimedia Communication (2007 – 2010) and Plastic Arts and Multimedia (2010 – 2019). He coordinated the Technological Center (2010 – 2011) and the Communication and Image Office (2016 – 2019) at ESE | IPSantarém.
He created and coordinated the ETRA project – Meeting of Plastic Arts and Multimedia (2014 – 2019) and is cocoordinator of the APM Fora de Portas Project. Member of the Organizing Committee of the Curtas Fora de Portas project and Pictorin – International Meeting of Plastic Artists (Santarém, 2020).
He has participated in painting and multimedia exhibitions, as well as in several video projects, as producer, director and editor. He received an honorable mention at the Mário Rodrigues Prize (2019, Santarém). He participated in several scientific and artistic projects (as a responsible researcher or research member) and in scientific and artistic publications. He supervised several finished master’s theses.
