CÁRMEN MONEREO PRESENTS HER BOOK ON CULTURAL PATRONAGE AT FNAC’S “BOOK TALKS” AT FORUM ALGARVE

The book Cultural patronage as an instrument of communication: the case of Caixa Geral de Depósitos and Culturgest, authored by Cármen Monereo, professor at ESEC / University of Algarve, CIAC collaborator and integrated researcher at ICNOVA, will be presented on 15 March 2023, 8h30, at the FNAC – Forum Algarve, in Faro.

The session is part of FNAC’s “Book Talks” and will be attended by CIAC researcher Ana Filipa Martins and include a debate on the future of cultural patronage, with the participation of Carolyn Ellison (cultural agent in the Algarve region).

The book is the result of a study of the collaborations between the cultural sector and the corporate world, particularly in the history of Culturgest – Caixa Geral de Depósitos’ Foundation. This research explores the evolution of the concept of patronage and the ambiguous relationship that has always been established between interest and altruism, power, and generosity. Cultural patronage as an instrument of communication: the case of Caixa Geral de Depósitos and Culturgest aims to contribute not only to the history of patronage in Portugal but also to define future public-private models.
