TRIBUTE TO CARVALHO CALERO

CEG, Centre of Galician Studies at UALg, honored Carvalho Calero with the support of CIAC.
Almost a year after the celebration of Galician Literature in honor of Carvalho Calero, the Center for Galician Studies at the University of the Algarve continues to remember and to honor one of the central and most multifarious figures of our culture. Although his voice was often silenced, we now have the privilege of recalling his words and we do so through his poetic universe, in which the most intimate Calero Carvalho is revealed: “And when we wake up, / we will be about to land, / and, imperfect birds a fleeing moment, / return to our normal nature / of imperfect reptiles” (“Müncher-Madrid”, in Reticências… 1986-1989).
In this video, the poet Carvalho Calero, indefatigable master and Angel of the Earth, invites us to make a pilgrimage along paths that take us from the Imperfect Past to the Conditional Future, from the Cantigas de amigo to the revealing ambiguity of Reticências.
