CIAC TALKS

NEW EPISODE OF “CIAC TALKS” AVAILABLE ONLINE
The fourth episode of the 2022 season of the CIAC Talks interview program is now available on CIAC’s Youtube channel. It is a conversation conducted by CIAC coordinator Mirian Tavares with the multifaceted artist Miguel Cheta.
His works, both sculptural and two-dimensional, focus on the issue of place/territory, especially the Algarve, the place where he lives and “travels”. With a profoundly photographic eye, the artist appropriates objects, uses optical devices and exercises in transparency and explores their possibilities. With a long career as an artist and exhibition curator, Miguel Cheta talks about the artistic and cultural movements in the Algarve, cultural seasonality, his relationship with the territory, the role of photography in his work, and the social responsibility of art.
Miguel Cheta has a degree in Visual Arts from the University of the Algarve, attended MobileHome – Nomadic and Experimental School of Contemporary Art, directed by Nuno Faria, in Loulé. He has participated in educational projects that cross heritage and education with the artistic process, such as “Lugares Mágicos” (Magic Places) from the Algarve Regional Culture Directorate, “10X10” from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and “Arte Vezes Educação” (Art Times Education) from the Municipality of Loulé. He has exhibited regularly since 2001.
CIAC Talks is the continuation of the Artist Talk Initiative project, an audiovisual product of interviews with researchers, professors and artists (national and international), developed by the Center since 2013.
