COMMUNICATION SCIENCES SEMINARS
ESEC AND CIAC PROMOTE SEMINARS ABOUT JOURNALISM
On 15 November 2022, at 10h30, CIAC and the Higher School of Education and Communication (ESEC- UAlg) promote a seminar about Journalism with guest speaker Tiago Lima. The event is organized within the scope of the discipline Communication Ethics and Deontology, as part of the Communication Sciences Degree. The session will be moderated by Prof. Paulo Alves and takes place in ESEC’s room 22.
Guest speaker Tiago Lima has been a journalist since 2015. He graduated in Communication Sciences from the Higher School of Education and Communication (University of Algarve) and holds a Master’s in Human Resources Management from the School of Management, Hospitality, and Tourism (University of Algarve). Besides that, Tiago Lima did his Post-Graduation in Criminality at Lusophone University and is currently attending a Post-Graduation in Territory and Civil Protection at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar. He has worked for PressPeople Group. In 2018, he started an internship at Cofina Group where he was part of the Correio da Manhã and CMTV editorial staff in Faro. By the end of his internship, Tiago was invited to join the Algarve team. Later, he joined the team of Jornal Algarve Primeiro, and after 6 months, the program Você na TV team, a show presented by Manuel Luís Goucha. He is currently a correspondent journalist/reporter for the Algarve for the program “Dois às 10”, on TVI, in the section “Atualidade Criminal.” Tiago has also been a professional firefighter since 2009 and is passionate about the cause.
The Communication Sciences Seminars are a CIAC initiative that connects professionals and the community. The sessions are promoted by CIAC’s Research Group on Communication Sciences, professors of the Communication Sciences Degree and the Master’s Degree in Communication and Digital Media of ESEC-UAlg.
Throughout the school year 2022-23, the seminars will address topics related to the theme of the research group, ranging from journalism to strategic communication, from media analysis and production to media literacy. In November, the Group has also planned seminars about Sports Communication with Blessing Lumueno (18 de November) and Nelson Floro (25 de November).
