SÍLVIA VIEGAS PRESENTS HER RESEARCH ABOUT REFUGEES AT UNIVERSIDAD LOYOLA (SEVILLE)
The event is organized by Instituto de Investigación en Políticas para la Transformación Socia [Research Institute on Policies for Social Transformation] and takes place at Universidad Loyola in Seville (Spain).
On the afternoon of October 20, Sílvia Leiria Viegas presents her research, her latest works, and the action-research networks she integrates. In addition, she participates in a discussion about diagnoses, theoretical references, conceptual categories, case studies, and transformative experiences: the case of Fórum Refúgio Portugal. On the morning of the 21st, the researcher addresses “Experiences of outreach, impacts and challenges.”
Viegas “Pesquisa de Refugiados para (Pós)Covid-19” addresses the access to housing and adequate living conditions for Refugees and other vulnerable migrants in Portugal, especially in the Algarve, in the (post-)COVID-19 period. It aims to recognize rural-urban tensions and the housing paradigms in small/medium-sized cities and rural areas, as well as the strategic, political, and specific causes that are at the origin of deprivation and poverty. Besides, it seeks to identify innovative local skills that are capable of creating opportunities and solving problems according to the existing socio-spatial characteristics, municipal strategies, and lifestyles (among other particularities) and the key actors that promote them.
The research is funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and supported by CIAC.
