Álvaro Americano (Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora), doctoral student in Communication, Culture and Arts at the University of Algarve is part of the Cycle of Conferences “Doutoramentos da UAlg e Cultura Científica: Visão Prática”.

On 17th January, at 5:30 p.m., the lectures of the PhD finalists Pedro Inácio, Márcio Simão and Álvaro Americano will be held in the framework of the initiative “Doutoramentos da UAlg e Cultura Científica: Visão Prática”, coordinated by the Vice Rector for Education and Culture, Saúl Neves de Jesus.

The CIAC collaborator, Álvaro Americano, a PhD finalist in Communication, Culture and Arts at the University of Algarve, will give a lecture in the scope of the work he has been developing here: “Cinema, Propaganda e Poder”, a project hosted by CIAC and initially supervised by Professor Vitor Reia Baptista and currently accompanied by Professor Bruno Mendes da Silva.

This initiative, held in the Municipal Library of Faro, proposes a model of sessions in which finalists of PhD studies of UAlg present lectures with a duration of about 20 minutes, focusing on the main practical implications of the research carried out in the scope of their PhD, with an accessible and attractive language for the community.

The admission is free.

Álvaro Americano é formado em Jornalismo e é Mestre em Comunicação e Cultura. É, neste momento, doutorando em Comunicação, Cultura e Artes, na Universidade do Algarve. Do seu vasto CV, destaca-se a experiência como repórter cinematográfico da TV Globo e repórter do jornal Tribuna de Minas. É professor do Curso de Jornalismo da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora desde 1990, onde leciona as áreas de radiojornalismo e telejornalismo. É também docente e vice-coordenador da Pós-graduação de TV, Cinema e Mídias Digitais e professor na Pós-graduação de jornalismo Multiplataforma. Nos últimos anos, tem desenvolvido a sua investigação na área dos cinejornais  brasileiros.
