CIAC researchers participate in The Creative Process Conference in Portuguese Film: Materialities, organized at King’s College London.

On 9th and 10th May, the King’s College London hosts the Conference The Creative Process in Portuguese Film: Materialities, organized by the Portuguese Center for Portuguese Language and Culture of the King’s College and the Utopia – UK Portuguese Film Festival, with the support of the Camões Institute and the Foundation for Science and Technology.

The program of the event includes the interventions of several researchers and collaborators of CIAC who have dedicated their research to the study of Portuguese cinema. On the 9th  March, at 4:30 p.m., Marcelo Ribaric, developing his post-doctoral research at CIAC, presents the communication: “The paratextual materiality of Manoel de Oliveira in Belle Toujours”. On the 10th, at 1:00 p.m., Patrícia Dourado and Mirian Tavares talk about “Script as a game: states of imagination in “António um dois três” [Antonio One Two Three] by Leonardo Mouramateus”. Later in the same panel, we can count on the intervention of the teacher and researcher Ana Soares: “From Pessoa’s tall chest of drawers to the screens.”

The objective of this conference is to promote the debate around the communicative and expressive powers inscribed in the many elements that compose a work, apprehending the cinema as a complex process distributed among different teams; a process that culminates in a final work that is inevitably “interartistical”.
