EXHIBITION
MAPLAND at the Trem Gallery
The exhibition ‘Mapland’ opens on February 20, at 6:30 pm, at the Galeria Trem, in Faro. The aim of the event is to promote the work of artist Mariana Madeira and is the result of her research project within the scope of her master’s degree in Communication, Culture and Arts and her residence at the Centro Nano (EBA/UFRJ) in Rio de Janeiro. In presenting her work to the public, Mariana Madeira reveals the third phase of a work that was started and partially exhibited in Brazil and which, when complete, will constitute the materialisation of a “fictional city”.
The artist shows a series of four machines, which evoke the natural elements (water, earth, air and fire) and which “define a system that works according to a techno-science”, invented by itself, and with “organisms potentially connected with the world in a new way”.
In MAPLAND, Mariana Madeira uses memories gathered in the knowledge and experiences of cities to offer them to the public, who can visit the exhibition until April 19, from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
