Soraya Vasconcelos inaugurates “devorar e não digerir” (devour and not digest)
Galeria Trem, Faro, inaugurates the exhibition “Devorar e não digerir” (To devour not to digest), by Soraya Vasconcelos, on the next 8th of May, at 6.30 pm. The event will mark the conclusion of Soraya Vasconcelos first artistic project produced under the scope of her doctoral degree in Comunicação, Cultura e Artes and intends to publicize her work. The inauguration will have as guest and speaker the plastic artist Cabrita Reis.
“Devorar e não digerir” can be visited until the 5th of July, from Tuesday till Saturday, from 10.30 am till 5 pm in Galeria Trem, Faro.
About the artist: Soraya Vasconcelos develops between 2010 and 2014 a doctoral degree project in the area of Áreas Visuais at Universidade do Algarve, supported by an FCT scholarship. She graduated from Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa (2002), has a Technical Course in Photography in ETIC (2002), a post-graduation in Digital Image in Universidade Autónoma of Barcelona (2004) and a post-graduation in Philosophy – Aesthetic from Universidade Nova of Lisbon (2010).
Since 2000, she maintains a continuous artistic activity, participating in individual and collective exhibitions in several galleries and institutions and also taking part in several artistic residences. In 2005, she was selected to participate in the 1st edition of Curso de Fotografia do Programa Gulbenkian Criatividade e Criação Artística (Gulbenkian Foundation Fotography Course under the scope of the Gulbenkian Program for Creativity and Artistic Creation), from which, in 2006, the collective DOZE is born. She developed work within the DOZE in the area of photography and editing, with special reference to the project “Paisagem e Povoamento” (Landscape and Peopling). In 2007, she was hosted by INEB (Oporto) under the Programa Rede de Residências: Arte, Ciência e Tecnologia (DGArtes/Ciência Viva). Currently, her artistic practice is about drawing and engraving. In 2011, she associated to Contraprova – Atelier de Gravura (Lisbon) and in 2014 , after organizing with Margarida Palma the program: “Réplica: Reflexão sobre Gravura Contemporânea” (Replica: reflexion on Contemporary Engraving) she becomes a member of Oficina Bartolomeu dos Santos (Tavira).
