CIAC CO-ORGANIZES EXHIBITION ON THE VOICES OF THE 20TH CENTURY IN HOLLYWOOD CINEMA

The exhibition “Grandes Vozes do Século XX no Cinema de Hollywood” [Great Voices of the 20th Century in Hollywood Cinema],organized by the Film Studies Research Group of CIAC and the University of Algarve Library, will be inaugurated on October 23 at the Central Library of UAlg – Gambelas Campus. It is a videographic and bibliographic display that offers an insight into how Hollywood cinema capitalized on the popularity, talent, and charisma of some of the greatest names in 20th-century popular music.

“Grandes Vozes do Século XX no Cinema de Hollywood” is part of one of the three research lines of the Film Studies Working Group, specifically the relationship between Cinema and Other Arts, aiming to disseminate to the academic community the contribution of great voices of American popular music to Hollywood cinema in the 20th century.

The exhibition, open to the public until November 10, will be complemented by the presentation of the e-book “Elvis Presley e a cultura popular do século XX” [Elvis Presley and 20th Century Popular Culture], a CIAC publication organized by Jorge Carrega. The e-book presentation is scheduled for November 8 in auditorium 1.4 of the Penha Campus. More information about the e-book presentation will be available soon.
