CIAC RESEARCHER’s FILM TO BE EXHIBITED AT THE FESTIN FILM FESTIVAL
Escobar, a film produced by researcher Heloísa Toledo Machado, from the Superior School of Theater and Cinema (ESTC), with the support of CIAC, will be exhibited at the Festin Film Festival. This will be the 14th edition of the festival and will take place from June 29 to July 7, 2023, at Cinemas Ideal, São Jorge, Fórum Lisboa, and Cine Incrível, in Lisbon.
Escobar is a free adaptation of the short story “A Missa do Galo” combined with excerpts from the novel” Dom Casmurro”, both written by Machado de Assis, a great writer of Brazilian literature. In the adapted screenplay, the character from “A Missa do Galo” is substituted by Escobar, a character from the novel “Dom Casmurro”. Both works were incorporated into the script, filmed in the studio, in a plastic language, to the music of Carlos Gomes. The film integrates Brazilian and Portuguese cultures, with Brazilian script being interpreted by Portuguese actors.
The Portuguese Language Itinerant Film Festival – FESTin is an international event dedicated to the audiovisual segment, whose objective is to promote the interculturality, social inclusion, and cultural exchange between Portuguese-speaking countries through an event committed to the dissemination of different cultures with respect for the these countries’ diversity.
