On the first day of the event (October 26), the researcher joins the Mesa Redonda em Plenário: Experiências de investigação Educomunicativas do Equador, Colômbia, Portugal, Brasil e Peru” with the communication “Apresentação das experiências do Observatório da Qualidade no Audiovisual” [Presentation of the Observatory of Audiovisual Quality experiences]. In this communication, the researcher presents the work developed by the Observatory of Audiovisual Quality; this is a research, teaching, and extension project working since 2013 as a space for debate and critical and creative production on contemporary audiovisual production—especially luso-Brazilian. Its main focus is to discuss the concepts of audiovisual quality and media literacy and develop a collection of good practices to promote the development of media literacy in the scientific and creative production of students. The relevance of the project is prominent in its interdisciplinarity. It brings together several important players in the construction of a wide network of students, researchers, producers, educators, and cultural agencies. The research means to educate students not only in the sense of becoming familiar with scientific research methods and their application through extension and scientific distribution activities, but also promote a critical and autonomous education that will reflect on the development of proactive citizens who are ready for the professional field of communication.

On October 27, she participates in the session”Audiências e ciberconsumo crítico”, with “As dimensões da competência mediática na produção e consumo de fanfics da série brasileira «As Five»”. Daiana Sigiliano and Luma Perobeli, from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Brazil) join researcher Gabriela Borges at the conference. This communication presents a paper that analyzes the dimensions of media literacy that are in operation in the processes of production and consumption of fanfics about the Brazilian series The Five (Globoplay, 2021-present). To discuss this issue, the researchers used 150 online questionnaires aimed at fans of the plot. The answers were then systematized and coded with the software ‘Atlas.it’. The research concludes that, when shared and consumed in collaborative digital environments, fanfics stimulate informal learning, combining multimodal elements, polysemic reading, and an extensive media repertoire.

Alfamed Network is based at the University of Huelva (Spain) and brings together more than 240 researchers from 19 Euro-American countries.
