CIAC COLLABORATOR SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ACTION “TRAINING SCHOOL ON LOCAL STORIES AND VISUAL NARRATIVES” (ESTONIA)

Training School on Local Stories and Visual Narratives, taking place on the 15th and 16th of September in Tallinn (Estonia), will be attended by Juliana Wexel, PhD student in Digital Media-Art and FCT-CIAC research fellow. Integrated in the European COST Action CA18126 – Writing Urban Places project, the action focuses on local urban histories (taking the city of Tallinn as an example) and includes site visits, analysis workshops, debates and lectures.

It is intended that participants discuss the historical, semantic, and archetypal configurations of narratives and compare local stories with those coming from their knowledge and ongoing research work.

Juliana Wexel’s participation is the result of a collaboration between CIAC, under the coordination of Prof. Mirian Tavares, and the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism of the University of Algarve, under the coordination of Prof. Sílvia Quinteiro (CIAC researcher participating in the WG2 working group, focused on the theoretical framework of Writing Urban Places).

Focusing on the potential of narrative for urban development in medium-sized European cities, Writing Urban Places proposes innovative research by articulating literary studies, urban planning, and architecture, and by valuing the specificity of local urban cultures in the European context.
