INTERNATIONAL EVENT

MANUEL CÉLIO CONCEIÇÃO PRESENT AT THE EUROPEAN LANGUAGE COUNCIL CONFERENCE
CIAC researcher Manuel Célio Conceição will be present at the 2021 CEL/ELC Online Conference, promoted by the European Language Council (CEL/ELC). Under the theme “Language and rights for an inclusive society”, the event takes place on 2 and 3 of December, online.
On the second day of the event, at 1 pm (Portuguese time), Manuel Célio Conceição chairs the session “Languages and rights in Covid communication”, which will have as speakers Hanne Skaaden and Tatjana R. Felberg (Oslo Metropolitan University); Simo Määttä, Tuija Kinnunen and Päivi Kuusi (University of Helsinki); and Anastasia Atabekova (People Friendship’s University of Russia). At 2:40 pm, together with Kris Peeters (University of Antwerp), he will moderate the roundtable discussion “Languages and rights – for whom, why and how?”, which brings together Simo Määttä (University of Helsinki); Paweł Rutkowski (University of Warsaw); Floriana Sciumbata (University of Trieste); and Giovanni Agresti (University of Bordeaux Montaigne).
The CEL/ELC aims to promote discussion and development of joint policies for all higher education institutions; and dialogue with other education sectors, European, national and international organizations and institutions. In addition, it seeks to support and contribute to education, training and research projects; actions that improve the quality of language learning and teaching and that raise awareness of the importance of linguistic diversity in the production, transmission and acquisition of knowledge. The goal is to provide a joint and targeted response to the challenges posed by a multilingual and multicultural Europe.
