HUGO PAQUETE TAKES PART IN THE 2ND MEDISOUP COMMUNITY CONCERT

Next 22 April 2022, CIAC collaborator Hugo Paquete will present the sound composition Mystery Protein, at the 2nd MediSouP Community Concert. Under the title “Healing. Listening to a Brave New World”, the event takes place in a hybrid format (virtual and live) in Cyprus, Spain and Turkey.

Integrated in the sound and light installation SARS-COV-2: Sound Analogies and Radical Sonification – Control Oscillating Voltage +2 (2021), which is linked to the visual representation of the genome and the SARS-COV-2 virus, Mystery Protein uses the potential of reflection and communication between man and nature, taking advantage of the human senses. An artistic and conceptual exploration is intended, regarding the awareness of nature as medium, culture and design; and the relationship between biology, digital and their modes of existence.

“Healing. Listening to a Brave New World.” brings together 49 audiovisual works that, through image and sound, reflect on the debilitated state of the planet and seek a re-encounter with healing in times of post-pandemic crisis. The event has three dates scheduled (8, 21 and 22 April).

The MediSouP Community brings together researchers and artists with an interest in the soundscapes of Mediterranean areas and their political and cultural extensions and meanings. The aim of the community is to create a link between regions and develop cross-cultural collaborations between researchers and artists with a common interest: sound.
