ARTICLE BY MIRIAN TAVARES PUBLISHED IN THE ‘PORTUGUESE LITERARY & CULTURAL STUDIES’ JOURNAL
The article “Da ruína como discurso: Apontamentos sobre cinematografias pós-coloniais” [Ruins as a discourse: notes on postcolonial cinematographies], written by CIAC coordinator Mirian Tavares, was recently published in the special issue of the Portuguese Literary & Cultural Studies journal. Under the theme “Heritages of Portuguese Influence: Histories, Spaces, Texts, and Objects”, this issue brings together articles from various fields of knowledge related to the postcolonial and globalized heritages of the Portuguese Empire and the lusophone diasporas.
In this article, Mirian Tavares seeks to understand the similarities and dissimilarities in the use of the cinematographic device for the development of audiovisual discourses during the postcolonial period. To do so, the researcher analyzed films by directors from Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Guinea-Bissau.
Portuguese Literary & Cultural Studies is a biannual journal published by the Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The journal is focused on literature and culture from different communities of the lusophone world.
