NEW PUBLICATION
NEW PUBLICATION SUPPORTED BY CIAC HAS BEEN RELEASED
Based on the papers presented at the Scientific Journey of the Panlatina Terminology Network (REALITER), in September 2019, at the University of Algarve, Terminology and linguistic mediation: methods, practices and activities brings together a set of texts that reveal terminological methods, practices and work activities, as mediation, developed in different domains and spheres of activity, in multiple contexts of uses of romance languages and their variants.
The published texts sustainably relate mono and/or multilingual terminology (research, production and use) and differentiated mediation activities, depending on the contexts in which they occur. Furthermore, they intend to discuss the functions of terminology in the linguistic and communicative mediation of knowledge and professional practices.
The Panlatina Terminology Network (REALITER), as a space for reflection on the uses of neo-Latin languages in the technical-scientific domains and in the areas of activity of the cultures that express themselves in them, began by assuming as its primary function the production of multilingual vocabularies. However, this network also takes on the functions of collaborative theoretical-methodological research on emerging issues in the area of latinity terminology.
The results of the multilingual terminological description are the guarantee of the maintenance of linguistic and cultural diversity and the essence of linguistic mediation and communication, for the affirmation of tolerance, respect and peace.
Manuel Célio Conceição (University of the Algarve) and Maria Teresa Zanola (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan) are responsible for organizing this publication.
