CHAPTER BY CIAC RESEARCHERS PUBLISHED IN SPRINGER BOOK 

“Text-Image-Movement-Interaction: Written Words and Their Artistic Paradigms in Video and Virtual Systems”, a chapter by CIAC researchers Alexandre Martins and Bruno Mendes da Silva, was recently published in the book Perspectives on Design and Digital Communication IV, part of the collection Springer Series in Design and Innovation.

The study explores the role of typography in contemporary art by analyzing various periods and artists in modern and postmodern contexts. The research serves as the basis for a 2024 video installation project based on Fernando Gonçalves Lavrador’s collection, transforming texts into artefacts with visual, dynamic, and interactive elements. The initiative involves experimenting with styles and materials, resulting in four short films and an interactive program, aiming to enhance artistic processes in computational and videographic systems.

Perspectives on Design and Digital Communication IV gathers articles that discuss timely topics at the intersection between design and digital communication, proposing practical solutions to current questions in the area of communication design and describing some of the challenges that digital media causes to brands, institutions, education, and society.

Springer Series in Design and Innovation publishes books on innovation and the latest developments in the fields of Product Design, Interior Design and Communication Design, with particular emphasis on technological and formal innovation, and on the application of digital technologies and new materials.
