NEW PUBLICATION: HOTÉIS LITERÁRIOS DE PORTUGAL

ELECTRONIC VERSION OF THE VOLUME “HOTÉIS LITERÁRIOS DE PORTUGAL” AVAILABLE ON CIAC’S WEBSITE
Hotéis Literários de Portugal is CIAC’s most recent publication and, as of today, is available on the Centre’s website. Coordinated by Sílvia Quinteiro, the book brings together texts by Ana Cláudia Salgueiro da Silva, Isabel Dâmaso Santos, Maria Mota Almeida, Maria José Aurindo and Natália Constâncio, researchers of Lit&Tour (CIAC’s Literature and Tourism research group).
This is a volume about the most relevant Portuguese hotels in terms of representation in literary works and the presence of Portuguese and foreign writers who stayed there, lived, or shared moments of friendship with other writers and artists.
The pages of this lavishly illustrated book contain testimonies from the press, excerpts from literary texts and passages taken from the personal correspondence of the authors, as well as entries in guest books and photographs, incorporated into texts that evoke the memory and charm of these spaces. A route through the literary hotels of Portugal is suggested, drawn from north to south, which includes stops at the Grande Hotel de Paris, the Grande Hotel do Porto, the Hotel Mary Castro, the Palace Hotel do Buçaco, the Hotel Quinta das Lágrimas, the Grande Hotel Central, Lawrence’s Hotel, the Avenida Palace and the Hotel Britania.
Hotéis Literários de Portugal invites the reader to unpack and settle in these hotels with the travellers of time and texts, for now through the e-book and soon in its printed version.
