CIAC COORDINATORS OFFICIAL VISIT TO THAILAND

Between 20 and 25 February 2022, CIAC coordinators Mirian Tavares and Bruno Mendes da Silva will visit King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) in Bangkok, Thailand. They will be accompanied by Hanspeter Ammann (audiovisual artist, consultant, and member of CIAC’s Assisting Committee). This visit is part of the project Cultural Adventures: Exploring Connections, transactions and interactions between South West Europe and South East Asia and aims to consolidate and extend the collaboration between the institutions.

Mirian Tavares and Bruno Mendes da Silva will meet with KMUTT’s Dean, visit the School of Architecture and Design (SoA+D) and discuss future collaboration between the institutions; present CIAC and project Cultural Adventures; visit the Bangkok Biennale; and lecture a seminar on research in creative practice. The seminar “Cadavre Exquis – from Surrealism to Interactive Film” proposes a historical visit to the oneiric universe of the surrealist movement and the presentation of the interactive film Cadavre Exquis — a variation on the surrealist homonymous game that seeks the possibility of subverting the filmic discourse by providing the possibility of intervening into the narrative in a disruptive way.

Cultural Adventures is a scientific project for artistic development created by CIAC in collaboration with the School of Architecture and Design (KMUTT) and involves the fields of arts and communication. Researchers Bruno Mendes da Silva (CIAC/UAlg) and Nigel Power (KMUTT) are responsible for the scientific project.
