Coordinated by the Director-General of the Directorate-General for the Arts, Américo Rodrigues, the team responsible for implementing the RPAC is made up of the Curator of the Contemporary Art Collection of the State (CACE), David Santos, and a group of personalities with extensive experience and work in the field of contemporary art, including Mirian Tavares, Ana Cristina Cachola, Delfim Sardo, Inês Grosso, João Mourão, Jorge Costa, José Alberto Ferreira, José Maçãs de Carvalho, Márcia de Sousa, and Marta Mestre.

According to the statement from the Ministry of Culture, the intention is to consolidate the mapping of existing cultural structures at a national level; the stimulation of network synergies between the RPAC facilities; support for the internationalization of this artistic universe; and the qualification (including the digital transition) of the facilities dedicated to the promotion of cultural activities in the field of contemporary art.
