SERIES OF CONFERENCES

LEONARDO MOURAMATEUS IS THE NEXT GUEST SPEAKER OF ALMA PROJECT’S SERIES OF CONFERENCES

On 28 October 2022, 16h00 (Lisbon time), project ALMA – Antropofagia, Literatura, Modernismo e Audiovisual promotes the 5th conference of a series dedicated to anthropophagic thinking. Titled “A conversation about autofiction in the cinema of Leonardo Mouramateus,” the roundtable hosts Brazilian director Leonardo Mouramateus; with the moderation of Mirian Tavares (CIAC/UAlg) and Patrícia Dourado (CIAC/UAlg).

This session takes place in virtual format and will be broadcast on the CIAC Youtube channel. The main focus is the creative processes of director Leonardo Mouramateus, whose work is autobiographical and, at the same time, deeply fictional. It is indeed a work of fiction made up of affections.

The series of conferences runs until November 2022 and brings together writers, filmmakers, artists, and academics from Brazil, Portugal, and Angola. The aim is to reflect on the idea of Anthropophagy as a key to understanding contemporary topics that transcend national identity issues and also refer to the cultural relationship between Portugal and the former colonies (Brazil and African countries). The last session, “Technological Anthropophagies,” takes place on November 25, with directors Isael Maxacali and Charles Bicalho.

The project ALMA-Anthropophagy, literature, modernism and audiovisual was created through a partnership between Labor – Laboratório de Estudos do Discurso (Federal University of São Carlos), CIAC – Research Center in Arts and Communication (University of Algarve), UEMG – Universidade Estadual de Minas Gerais and Polo Audiovisual da Zona da Mata. The project team is composed of Miriam Tavares and Jorge Carrega (CIAC/UAlg); César Piva (Zona da Mata Audiovisual pole); Vanice Sargentini, Daniel Laks, Pedro Henrique Varoni De Carvalho and Rodolfo Magalhães (UFSCar); and Cláudio Santos Rodrigues (Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais).

Participation in the conference is free of charge and grants a certificate (upon registration here).
