LOURENÇO EGREJA IS THE NEXT GUEST SPEAKER OF THE VISUAL ARTS CYCLE
On 17 May 2023 a session of the Visual Arts Cycle will be hosted by curator Lourenço Egreja, with a special emphasis on the Arte Jovem Award 2023.
The session can be watched online, via videoconference Zoom, or in person, in room 1.04 of the Higher Institute of Engineering of the University of Algarve, at Campus of Penha.
In a Q&A session with Lourenço Egreja, from the Carpe Diem Art and Research Association (CDAP), last-year students and graduates of the Visual Arts degree will be able to clarify any questions they may have regarding all the procedures of the Arte Jovem Award 2023.
This award is particularly aimed at Visual Arts graduates. It will grant an exhibition in Lisbon and award 10 prizes to the 10 selected artists. The main goals of this award are:
- Promote the latest projects from artists who have just started their careers, thus providing a broader view of national artistic production;
- Provide the opportunity for the artist to hold their first exhibition, with curators’ support and catalog production;
- Propose a competitive dynamic between national schools and captivate the art market, creating possibilities for acquisition by collectors;
- To award prizes that promote the continuity of artistic training, as well as to present new talents from the Lisbon Psychiatric Hospital Center.
This competition/award is part of the sustained support program in the field of Visual Arts – creation and programming (2023-2024), by CDAP together with other associations and entities, with the support of the Millennium bcp Foundation.
