CIAC WEBINARS
GELSON SANTANA IS THE NEXT GUEST SPEAKER OF CIAC WEBINARS
On 31 October 2022, at 18h00, CIAC promotes the webinar “In the 007 agent’s 1960s: James Bond now and then”. Gelson Santana, from Universidade Anhembi Morumbi (Brasil) is the guest speaker for this edition of the program. CIAC Webinars 12th edition aims to analyze how the 007 character evolved in the last 60 years.
In r. No (1962), by Terence Young, James Bond (Sean Connery) does his duty as a hero and in the end, after taking down the villainous Dr. Julius No (Joseph Wiseman), he is rewarded with Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress). He cannot indulge in the luxury of love; he can only show he is interested. James Bond is an apollonian loner, who carries out his missions flawlessly and has CIA agent Felix Leiter (Jack Lord) for a co-worker. In No Time to Die (2021), by Cary Joji Fukunaga, James Bond (Daniel Craig) finds himself condemned for falling in love with Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux). His power is corrupted by the fragility of love. His friend and CIA agent Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) is like a brother to him. However, these disparities are not found in the two villains, Dr. Julius No and Lyutsifer Safin (Rami Malek), who remain bitter and seemingly asexual.
Gelson Santana did his doctorate in Communication Sciences at the University of São Paulo (ECA-USP). He holds a degree in Cinema from the IACS (Art and Social Communication Institute), at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). His research is focused on contemporary cinema and pop culture. He is the author of “O prazer trivial – cultura mediática, género e pornochanchada”, among other publications.
For the next editions of CIAC webinars, we have confirmed the guest speakers Pamela Richardson-Ngwenya and Norberto Gaudêncio Junior.
