BOOK SUPPORTED BY CIAC PRESENTED AT THE XVII REALITER SCIENTIFIC JOURNEYS

The book Terminologia e mediação linguística: métodos, práticas e atividades [Terminology and linguistic mediation: methods, practices and activities], organized by Manuel Célio Conceição (CIAC-UAlg) and Maria Teresa Zanola (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore), will be presented on the 8th of October, at 6pm, at FNAC Albufeira, Algarve Shopping (Guia) and via Zoom. This session is part of the XVII Scientific Meetings of the Pan-Latin Terminology Network (REALITER).

After its launching in June, at FNAC Faro, the presentation of Terminologia e mediação linguística: métodos, práticas e atividades counts again with the intervention of Etienne Quillot (Ministry of Culture of France) and Mirian Tavares (FCHS and CIAC-UAlg); and the presence of the work’s organizers.

Building on the papers presented at the REALITER Scientific Conferences in September 2019 at the University of Algarve, the book brings together a set of texts that relate mono- and/or multilingual terminology (research, production and use) and differentiated mediation activities, depending on the contexts in which they occur. In addition, they aim to discuss the functions of terminology in the linguistic and communicative mediation of knowledge, expertise and professional practices.

The XVII REALITER Scientific Meetings, to be held on the 7th and 8th of October (coordinated from Beiture, Porto Alegre and São Paulo), aim to question the relationship between terminology and the social dimension of communication, questioning all the phenomena of this impact on the transfer of knowledge, from an intra- and interlinguistic perspective, far beyond the specialized text/context.
