PRESENTATION OF “LITERARY HOTELS OF PORTUGAL” TAKES PLACE ON DECEMBER 16

The book Hotéis Literários de Portuga [Literary hotels of Portugal], coordinated by CIAC researcher Sílvia Quinteiro, will be presented on 16 December 2022, at 16h00, at UAlg’s Library (Gambelas Campus). The book brings together texts by Ana Cláudia Salgueiro da Silva, Isabel Dâmaso Santos, Maria Mota Almeida, Maria José Aurindo, and Natália Constâncio—all of which researchers of the Lit&Tour (CIAC Research Group in Literature and Tourism).

The book presents Portuguese hotels that have been temporary homes for writers; inspired literary works; housed fictional characters; and/or were important meeting points and gatherings for writers and artists.

Literary hotels of Portugal brings testimonies from the press, excerpts from literary texts and passages taken from the authors’ personal correspondence, as well as records in guest books and photographs—all integrated into texts that evoke the memory and charm of these spaces. It also suggests a route for visiting the Literary Hotels of Portugal, which goes from North to South and includes stops at Grande Hotel de Paris, Grande Hotel do Porto, Mary Castro Hotel, Palace Hotel do Buçaco, Quinta das Lágrimas Hotel, Grande Hotel Central, Lawrence’s Hotel, Avenida Palace, and Britania Hotel.
