CALL FOR PAPERS FOR JOURNAL ROTURA OPEN BETWEEN 20 JULY AND 15 OCTOBER

A call for papers for the fifth issue of CIAC’s Journal Rotura – Journal of Communication, Culture and Arts, has officially opened on 20 July 2022. Under the theme “Digital Media-Art”, the thematic dossier intends to focus on the creative, methodological and communicational aspects of digital artistic artefacts investigation. The call for papers runs until 15 October 2022.

Digital media art and computational art represent two families of artistic artefacts that share the characteristics of automation, numerical representation, variability, modularity, transcoding, and interactivity, although one is focused on media and their (inter)combinations, and the other on computing and algorithms.

Rotura’s call for papers welcomes original articles that focused on the following topics: computational art; generative art; interactive installations; transmedia narratives; virtual, augmented and mixed reality; video art; video games; and all areas in which digital media are manipulated through computation, towards artistic creation. Articles can be written in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.

The call for the Varia section—which hosts free-themed articles related to communication, culture and arts, as well as reviews, art chronicles and interviews—remains open in a continuous flow.

Directed by CIAC coordinators Mirian Tavares and Bruno Mendes da Silva, the fifth issue of Journal Rotura (to be published in 2023) is edited by researchers António Araújo (CIAC/UAb), José Bidarra (CIAC/UAb) and Pedro Alves da Veiga (CIAC/UAb).
