CALL FOR PAPERS FOR JOURNAL ROTURA OPEN UNTIL MAY 15

A call for papers for the sixth edition of CIAC’s Journal, Rotura – Journal of Communication, Culture and Arts, is officially open and runs until 15 May 2023. The thematic dossier is centred on “Communication in/of Science”.

The production and the dissemination of knowledge and scientific expertise occur in communication and are the result of possibilities and choices of verbal, non-verbal and multimodal construction and representation. This issue of Journal Rotura is dedicated to all aspects related to science communication, which, in a broad sense, is understood as a set of processes and practices of construction, transmission and reception of research methods and information, knowledge and scientific expertise, with different constitutive and communicative intentions, in various media and targeting different audiences.

Rotura‘s call for papers welcomes original articles of scientific research focused on the following topics: Discourses and knowledge construction (diachronic, synchronic, diastratic, diatopical aspects, etc); Scientific literacy; Mediation; Multilingualism in science and epistemic justice; Discursive and/or multimodal reformulation; Semiotic, artistic and/or interactive representations of science; Terminologies and communication; Vulgarisation and popularisation of science; Other domains in which science communication is an object of research. Articles in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English are welcome.

The call for the Varia section, which hosts free-themed articles related to communication, culture and arts, as well as reviews, art chronicles and interviews, remains open in a continuous flow.

Directed by CIAC coordinators Mirian Tavares and Bruno Mendes da Silva, the sixth issue of Journal Rotura (to be published in September 2023) will be edited by researchers Manuel Célio Conceição (CIAC/Universidade do Algarve) and Maria Teresa Zanola (OTPL/Universidade Católica de Milão).
