CIAC TALKS
NEW EPISODE OF “CIAC TALKS” AVAILABLE ONLINE
The fifth episode of the 2022 season of the CIAC Talks interview program is now available on CIAC’s Youtube channel. It is a conversation conducted by CIAC coordinator Mirian Tavares with artist Nuno Viegas, also known as Metis.
Founder of the Policromia Crew collective, Nuno Viegas began his artistic journey through graffiti in 1999. After finishing his studies in Visual Arts at the University of Algarve, he moved to Rotterdam (Netherlands), discovered a new artistic identity and began to develop his paintings, strongly influenced by the graffiti movement. This has been the focal point of his artistic production and his greatest source of inspiration.
In 2016, he worked with Street Art Today in Amsterdam, which launched him into the urban art scene and caught the attention of Urban Nation Berlin – Museum of Contemporary Urban Art. In the following years, the artist worked with Yasha Young Projects, Graffiti Prints, Thinkspace Gallery, among other prominent names in the urban art scene. Currently, his work expands to walls and art spaces all over the world.
In this episode, Nuno Viegas talks about his academic path in Visual Arts, the influence of graffiti in his paintings, the techniques he uses, the international recognition, the impact of Policromia Crew collective in his career and his return to Portugal.
CIAC Talks is the continuation of the Artist Talk Initiative project, an audiovisual product of interviews with researchers, professors and artists (national and international), developed by the Center since 2013.
