COLLOQUIUM MEDITERRANEAN CINEMAS

CIAC RESEARCH GROUP PROMOTES 1st INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM “MEDITERRANEAN CINEMAS” ON MARCH 29 AND 30

On 29 and 30 March 2023, CIAC’s Research Group on Film Studies organizes the I International Colloquium “Mediterranean Cinemas.” On the first day, the event takes place at the University of Algarve, in Auditorium 1.4 of the Pedagogical Complex of Campus Penha, between 9h30 and 18h00. On the second day, the session (between 14h30 and 17h30) is held exclusively online.

 I International Colloquium “Mediterranean Cinemas”  brings together researchers with the aim of promoting research and stimulating critical reflection on cinema produced in countries with Mediterranean culture. This first edition is attended by keynote speakers Austin Fisher (Bournemouth University, United Kingdom); and the interventions of researchers Hugo Barreira and Joana Isabel Duarte (CITCEM/University of Porto), Ana Bela Morais (Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon), Sandra Rojo Flores (University of Granada, Spain), Sanae Ghouati (Université Ibn Tofail De Kénitra, Morocco), Giulio Olesen (Bournemouth University, United Kingdom), Norberto Gaudêncio Junior (Mackenzie from São Paulo, Brazil), José Maria Neto (University of Pernambuco, Brazil) and Marcello Messina (Southern Federal University, Russia).

Also noteworthy is the participation of CIAC researchers: Ana Isabel Soares, António Costa Valente, Jorge Carrega, João Carvalho, Carlos Coelho Costa, Natália Laranjinha, Alexandre Martins, Sara Vitorino Fernández, and Wiliam Pianco.
