ESEC AND CIAC PROMOTE SEMINAR ABOUT ETHICS IN COMMUNICATION
On 22 November 2022, at 10h30, CIAC and the Higher School of Education and Communication (ESTEC- UAlg) promote the seminar Ethics in Communication with professor and journalist Fernando Correia. The event is organized within the scope of the discipline of Ethics and Deontology of Communication as part of the Communication Sciences Degree. The session will be moderated by Prof. Paulo Alves and takes place in ESEC’s room 22.
Fernando Correia holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of Lisbon and a Master’s in Communication, Cultures, and Technologies from ISCTE. He is an associate professor at the Degree in Communication Sciences and Culture at the Lusophone University of Humanities (journalism field), where he is part of the Scientific Council. Fernando is a founding member and researcher at the Research Center for Media and Journalism (CIMJ) and is part of the Editorial Commission for the Media and Journalism Magazine of CIMJ.
He has been a journalist since 1966 and is the Head of Editing of the Vértice Magazine; editor of periodical publications of Editorial Caminho; member of the Journalist’s Union General Council; founding member of the Journalists Club; jury member of the Gazeta Journalism awards; and Editing Director of JJ (Journalism and Journalists) magazine. He has been part of the Organizing Committees of two Portuguese Journalists’ Conferences. Fernando is the author of Os Jornalistas e as Notícias; A Autonomia Jornalística em Questão; and Jornalismo e Sociedade. He has presented dozens of communications related to Journalism and the Media in seminars, debates, conferences, and congresses, part of which have been edited in journals, magazines, and collective works.
The Communication Sciences Seminars are a CIAC initiative that connects professionals and the community. The sessions are promoted by CIAC’s Research Group on Communication Sciences, professors of the Communication Sciences Degree and the Master’s Degree in Communication and Digital Media of ESEC-UAlg.
Throughout the school year 2022-23, the seminars will address topics related to the theme of the research group, ranging from journalism to strategic communication, from media analysis and production to media literacy. In November, the Group has also planned seminars about Sports Communication with Nelson Floro (25 de November).
