ESEC AND CIAC PROMOTE SEMINAR WITH MOVIE DIRECTOR JOSÉ CARLOS SANTOS

On 12 April 2023, at 09h30, The Higher School of Education and Communication (ESEC) of the University of Algarve and CIAC promote a seminar with movie director José Carlos Santos. Organized as part of the discipline Sound And Image production and editing, of the professional Higher Technical Course in Design and Multimedia Technologies, the session will be moderated by Professor Joana Palminha and take place at ESEC Room 37.

Guest speaker José Carlos Santos directed the first Corporate TV project in Portugal (Renault TV), having also directed the series Hotels in Portugal, receiving several international awards. In advertising, he has worked with brands such as Coca-Cola, Heineken, Vodafone, Seat, Fanta and Nescafé. He directed documentaries for RTP1, RTP2, History channel, SportTV and other channels, including the series  O Pimba é Nosso (2022) and Longevidade – Desafios Económicos e Sociais (2022). In fiction, he directed the series  Terapia (RTP, 2016), the soap operas Sol de Inverno (SIC) and Paixão (SIC), as well as the film O Ego de Egas (2020).

The Communication Sciences Seminars are an initiative that has been developing in recent years, in connection with professionals and the community. The sessions are promoted by the researchers of CIAC’s Research Group on Communication Sciences, professors in The Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Master’s Degree in Communication and Digital Media of ESEC-UAlg.

Throughout the school year 2022-23, it will address topics related to Communication Sciences; ranging from journalism to strategic communication, from media analysis and production to media literacy.
