ALICE RIFF IS THE NEXT GUEST OF THE VISUAL ARTS CYCLE
On 8th April 2022, at 9:00pm, CIAC and the University of Algarve promote a talk with filmmaker, producer and screenwriter Alice Riff, at the Portuguese Institute for Sports and Youth (IPDJ), in Faro. In this session, her latest documentary feature film entitled Elections (2018) will be screened. Admission is free.
With a degree in Cinema and Social Sciences (FAAP, USP), Alice Riff seeks, in her works, sensitive encounters with the real, especially issues related to youth and human rights.
Her documentary feature films Elections (2018), Platamama (2018), My body is political (2017) have participated in important international festivals such as Visions du Reel, Dok Leipzig, Festival do Rio, BAFICI, Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de Havana, Festival de Brasilia. My body is political won the award for “Best Brazilian Film” at Curitiba’s Olhar de Cinema and “Best Film” at Lovers – LGBT Torino Film Festival.
Alice Riff has directed other documentaries for television and short films, such as Orquestra Invisível Let’s Dance (2016, TV Cultura Aquisition Prize, at the SP Kinoforum International Short Film Festival and Honorable Mention at PirenopolisDoc); 100% Boliviano, Mano (2013; Best Educational Film at Entretodos Human Rights Festival); Cidade Improvisada (2012; Best Film at Visões Periféricas Festival); Diálogos (2012, Best Film at Cinesul Festival).
In addition, she was executive producer of the film Histórias que nosso cinema (não) contava (2017), by Fernanda Pessoa, available on Netflix. She is currently finishing the documentary Abigarrados, which she is in charge of directing.
