CLOSING CONFERENCE WITH MIRIAN TAVARES AND PEDRO ALVES DA VEIGA
The 10th Doctoral Reunion in Media-Digital Art comes to an end this July 14th. The day marks the conclusion of the Research Ability Assessments for students of the 1st Year of the course.

Mirian Nogueira Tavares is an associate professor with aggregation at the University of Algarve. With an academic background in Communication Sciences, semiotics and Cultural Studies, she has developed her research work and theoretical production in the fields of film and artistic aesthetics.
Pedro Alves da Veiga is an artist and researcher with a PhD in Digital Media-Art from the University of Algarve and Universidade Aberta. He is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Universidade Aberta, where he is Deputy Director of the PhD in Digital Media-Art.
The schedule of the 10th DMAD Reunion ends tomorrow at the end of the day, with the disassembling of the exhibition “Rizoma” and closing of the headquarters, with a view to freeing up the occupied space.
About the PhD in Media-Digital Art
The Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (FCHS) of the University of Algarve and the Department of Science and Technology (DCeT) of the Open University of Lisbon, in association, created the PhD in Media-Digital Art (DMAD) to work at the University of Algarve, in a hybrid regimen, with a face-to-face moment, for one week, during the month of July, in Portugal. This is a pioneering program in Portugal, in the growing inter- multi- and transdisciplinary field of digital media-art, and internationally, it is the first experience at the doctoral level to work in this regime.
Objectives
The course aims to train digital media-art professionals for the most diverse areas of intervention, whether in research, education, artistic, technological and communications development, with solid skills in experimentation with and exploitation of computer technologies for creation, communication sciences and artistic and intercultural intervention; able to take the lead of experimentation/ research-action projects of artistic and intercultural intervention, individual and collective, covering the development of new digital computer applications, products and aesthetic narratives.
