DOCUMENTARY SCRIPTED BY CIAC RESEARCHER JOANA PALMINHA IS NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
The documentary Longevidade: desafios económicos e sociais [Longevity: economic and social challenges] is available on RTP Play (Part 1 and Part 2) and on Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation’s YouTube channel. CIAC researcher Joana Palminha was responsible for the documentary’s script, interviews, texts, and research. This documentary is co-produced by RTP and Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos and reveals the challenges of Portugal’s demographics.
Longevity: economic and social challenges asserts that Portuguese people continue to live longer and longer, have fewer children, and the need for more qualified immigrants continues to grow. This demographic reality demands urgent adaptations to improve the population’s well-being, but also brings enormous challenges for the future of the country’s economy. In a country where productivity remains low and public debt excessively high, economic growth requires innovative—and sometimes disruptive—solutions. This documentary presents some of the resolutions that challenge Portugal’s growth.
The documentary production team also included Carlos Daniel (presentation); José Carlos Santos (directing); Tânia Reis Alves (interviews with experts); and Ricardo Pinto (Production Direction). Panavideo Productions was the producer.
