JOÃO ALBUQUERQUE LAUNCHES HIS NEW BOOK IN LISBON

On 17 December 2022, researcher João Albuquerque launched his first critique book entitled O estéril amor fecundo de Fernando Pessoa [The sterile fertile love of Fernando Pessoa]. The event took place at the bookstore Snob and marked the 40th anniversary of the first edition of the Book of Disquiet, by Fernando Pessoa. The book’s presentation was done by Professor Patrícia Soares Martins (University of Lisbon).

The sterile fertile love of Fernando Pessoa is an essay collection João Albuquerque has written by analyzing one excerpt from the Book of Disquiet. This paper intends to explore the two fundamental aspects which rely on this love (de-possession and becoming), so it can tread its field of writing immanence, thus observing the way Fernando Pessoa establishes a necessary relationship between sterility (as chastity) and artistic fertility.
