IHERITAGE APP FIRST TRAINING SESSION TAKES PLACE ON OCTOBER 28
The first training session for the app iHeritage MED DIET will take place on 28 October 2022, from 10h00 to12h00, at the University of Algarve’s ESGHT (Escola Superior de Gestão, Hotelaria e Turismo). The project received European funding and is led by the Italian partner Regione Siciliana – Assessorato del Turismo, dello Sport e dello Spettacolo. Participating in this program are investigators from the research centers CIAC, CIMA, and CinTurs, with activities developed by the University of Algarve.
iHeritage goals include coming up with innovative ways to develop augmented reality (AR) tools and smartphone applications that allow for an enhanced experience for UNESCO cultural heritage sites visitors.
This event plans to introduce the development, architecture, and functions of the mobile application iHERITAGE MED DIET. It will also present the virtual routes created and the points of interest within the respective municipalities; as part of the project’s research theme in Portugal: the Mediterranean diet. The project aims at the investigation of Intangible Cultural Heritage (practices, representations, knowledge) and instruments, artifacts, and cultural spaces associated with those; it connects them to innovative solutions within the fields of sustainability, tourism, and new technologies. This achievement will benefit both the local community and the influx of tourists. It is part of a cultural experience, passed down through generations, that regards the environment, the interaction with nature, the power of gastronomy, the history of the landscape, and the sense of identity and continuity in the Algarve.
Participation in this training session is free of charge and open to the community, upon registration via email lldorsch@ualg.pt (send your full name, email address, and institution / company). The application period terminates on October 26, 2022.
