MIRIAN TAVARES, MARÍA JESÚS VILAR AND OLIVIA NOVOA FERNÁNDEZ PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR GALICIAN STUDIES

Between the 22nd and 23rd of September 2022, CIAC coordinator Mirian Tavares, and CIAC researchers María Botana Vilar, and Olivia Novoa Fernández attend the XIII Congreso da Asociación Internacional de Estudos [XIII Conference of the International Association of Galician Studies]. The conference takes place at the University of Warsaw, Poland. Under the theme “Opening routes, expanding paths. New perspectives and intersections on Galician studies”, the event aims to gather research work on the field of Galician studies which foster the dialogue between academic subjects and amongst cultural representatives.

On September 22nd, on the 10h45 panel (“Parallel Panels”), Olivia Novoa Fernández presents “The literary Galicia on the cinematographic news in Portugal (1953-1970)”. From 17h45, Mirian Tavares e María Botana Vilar take part in the panel “Presentation of Publications”, with the “Collection of Texts and Studies of minority languages”. Besides this intervention, María Botana Vilar also presents “Galicia in us. Studies for the comprehension of Galician-Portuguese cultural relations”.

Then, on September 23rd, María Botana Vilar is one of the rapporteurs of “The image of Galicia and of Galician people amongst Galician Studies students in Portugal” (“Panel 11”, at 12h15). Later that day, at 15h00, Mirian Tavares joins “Panel 21”, centered on cinema, and presents “Between poetry and prose – the documentary cinema of Margarita Ledo Andión”.

XIII Congreso da Asociación Internacional de Estudos aims to promote collaboration tools, cultural exchange, and dissemination of scientific, literary, and cultural production; contemporary and intersectional theoretical approaches (such as postcolonial, feminist, race, and gender studies); and to extend the exposure of Galician studies in a variety of academic and institutional environments.
