ANA ISABEL SOARES TAKES PART IN THE CONFERENCE FEMEETING 2022

On September 15, 2022, CIAC researcher Ana Isabel Soares attended the conference FEMeeting 2022: Women In Art, Science, and Technology. This is an event promoted by FEMeeting, Cultivamos Cultura and Direção Regional de Cultura do Alentejo, with the support of Fundação Eugénio de Almeida. The event takes place in Évora, until September 17th.

As part of the panel “Crack of Dawn”(morning session), Ana Isabel Soares presented “Portrait of a Religious Woman – Margarida Gil’s True and Faithful”. Studying the film Relação Verdadeira e Fiel (1987) [A True and Faithful Account], by Margarida Gil (an adaptation of the autobiographical story of a seventeenth-century Portuguese Nun), the researcher reflected on what is “true” in an autobiographical story; and how the director, who adapts the story, can guarantee that the work is portrayed “faithfully”.

FEMeeting 2022 aims to develop and promote a more direct collaboration of artistic and research projects amongst all individuals who identify with the female gender. The conference intends to broadcast projects performed by women around the world, thus contributing to the development of art-science research methodologies and increasing cooperation strategies that can broaden the sharing of knowledge and bring communities closer together.
