INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: ARTSIT 2022

ARTSIT 2022 TAKES PLACE IN FARO ON THE 21 AND 22 OF NOVEMBER

CIAC has teamed up with ArtsIT to host the 11th EAI International Conference: ArtsIT, Interactivity & Game Creation. The event takes place on 21 and 22 November 2022, at Hotel Eva Senses Faro, in person and also online.

The list of keynote speakers includes: Monika Fleischmann and Wolfgang Strauss, a duo that has focused on digital media (as a combination of art and technology), with “From Home of the Brain to Semantic Map – Performative interfaces for networked knowledge”; and CIAC researcher Rudolfo Quintas, presenting “‘Can I Hear you Dance?’and Eco-Acoustic Embodiment’, a communication that reflects on the relationship between philosophical and technological research, as well as artistic practices for the flowering of new concepts and the audience’s experience.

“Dialogues Between Geometry, Computer Graphics and the Visual Arts” is presented by António Araújo (CIAC/UAb), a mathematician and visual artist. In special track, the researcher will focus on studies in which the dialogue between computers, art, and geometry is an important factor (whether in architecture, animation, games, engineering, or education).

In addition, a panel will be dedicated to the theme “Video Game Culture and Creativity“, with contributions from the Council of Europe’s Working Group for Video Culture, part of the project Digital Citizenship Education. Bruno Mendes da Silva (CIAC deputy coordinator) and Susana Costa (CIAC researcher) join this panel with the communication “Video games and Interactive Narratives Propose Plural Speech”. In this presentation, they introduce project PROPS – an approach to hate speech through the development of games and interactive narratives (both digital and analogue) that aims to motivate and engage educators, leaders, children and young people to have an essential role in fighting online hate speech.
