NEW PUBLICATION
NEW VOLUME OF THE COLLECTION PROMONTORIA MONOGRÁFICA DA HISTÓRIA DA ARTE PUBLISHED WITH THE SUPPORT OF CIAC
The 30th edition of the collection Promontoria Monográfica da História da Arte, entitled Retábulos nas dioceses de Coimbra e de Aveiro is already available in open access (here). Dedicated to the study and dissemination of the altar pieces heritage in the Portuguese World, the publication is coordinated by CIAC researcher Francisco Lameira.
Retábulos nas dioceses de Coimbra e de Aveiro seeks to highlight the vast and valuable retabular heritage that remains in these two dioceses, highlighting, among many examples, those found in Coimbra (in the old and new cathedrals; and in the churches of Santa Cruz, Carmo and Santa Clara) and Aveiro (in the Se and Church of Jesus). Some of these works were conceived and carved by some of the most distinguished Portuguese and foreign artists, namely Nicolau de Chaterenne, João de Ruão, Gaspar Coelho, Claude de Laprade, António Gomes and Gaspar Ferreira.
This volume is published by the Arts and Humanities Department of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, University of the Algarve, and is supported by CIAC. Prepared by Francisco Lameira (CIAC/University of Algarve), Sandra Costa Saldanha (University of Coimbra/National Secretariat for the Cultural Property of the Church) and Martina del Rio João (researcher), Retábulos nas dioceses de Coimbra e de Aveiro aims to promote the safeguarding and preservation of the collections of these two dioceses.
