ROUTLEDGE BOOK FEATURES A CHAPTER BY GABRIELA BORGES AND SUSANA COSTA
The chapter“Comparative Study of the Transmedia Element in Esports”—by CIAC researchers Gabriela Borges and Susana Costa, and co-authored by Daiana Sigiliano—is part of the recently published book Esports and the Media Challenges and Expectations in a Multi-Screen Society. The book is a Routledge publication edited by Angel Torres-Toukoumidis.
The authors present a comparative study of the performance of 20 professional Fortnite players on Twitch and Twitter (platforms that mutually cooperate on debates concerning video games, engagement actions, and content production). This chapter analyses communication strategies used by the best-paid players in 2021, in their interactions with fans and spectators.
With a multidisciplinary approach regarding sports and its role in society, Esports and the Media Challenges and Expectations in a Multi-Screen Society brings together a diverse group of authors who address the impact of e-sports on the worldwide entertainment industry.
