E-BOOK ON FICTIONAL NARRATIVES INCLUDES CHAPTERS BY CIAC RESEARCHERS
The chapters “Narrative, Semiotics and Aesthetics of Hypervention: analysis of a SKOL advertising”, by CIAC researcher Thiago Garcia Martins, and “Semiotic Translations in RTP /Rádio e Televisão de Portugal webseries”, by CIAC researcher Adriana Pierre Coca are part of the e-book Streaming and serial fiction: encounters and mismatches. The book is organized by Adriana Pierre Coca and Alexandre Tadeu dos Santos, coordinators of the Research Group for Studies of Television, Streaming, and Serial Fiction, of the Federal University of Goiás (Brazil).
“Narrative, Semiotics and Aesthetics of Hypervention: Analysis of a SKOL Advertising” focuses on the study of ads from the Brazilian beer brand. SKOL is a brand that has changed its rhetoric and now makes campaigns associated with political correctness. Thiago Garcia Martins analyzes, in particular, the ad Skol Delegation #Rio2016, under the concepts of peircean semiotics and the aesthetics of hypervention. He proposes a reflection on the advertising message that the film establishes as persuasive rhetoric.
In “Semiotic Translations in RTP /Rádio e Televisão de Portugal webseries” Adriana Pierre Coca discusses—from the perspective of the semiotics of Culture—how the experience of the Portuguese public broadcaster signals transmutations in the ways of telling fiction stories, strengthening these narratives in the digital environment.
Streaming and serial fiction: encounters and mismatches is the result of research discussed and presented in the XIV International Seminar on Media, Culture, Citizenship, and Information from The Graduate Program in Communication of the Faculty of Information and Communication, Federal University of Goiás.
