JULIANA WEXEL’S TRAVEL JOURNAL IS PART OF THE BOOK “THE CITY AND THE MYTH”
Juliana Wexel, CIAC researcher and PhD student in Digital Media Art, had her Travel Journal “A letter to Cassandra” published in the book The City and The Myth, edited by Casa Editrice Libria (Melfi, Italy) and Giuseppe Resta (Italian architect and curator).
“A letter to Cassandra” is the result of a performative, literary, and visual experience that evokes and connects Greek myths of nymph Aretusa, and Cassanda, princess-priestess of Troy, under an artivist and feminist perspective. The book The City and The Myth brings together the results of an international workshop organized in July 2022 in Turkey by COST Action Writing Urban Places, where 26 researchers from European Universities contributed with essays and travel journals from nowadays’s Istanbul to Homer’s Troy. With an emphasis on narrative methods for urban development in medium-sized European cities, they studied the relationship between the cities and the myth, the visible and the invisible, traveling from Istanbul to Çanakkale.
The event took place at the Faculty of Architecture of Yeditepe University, in Istanbul, in collaboration with Çanakkale Savaşları Gelibolu Tarihi Alan Başkanlığı [Çanakkale Wars Gallipoli Historical Sites Presidency]. Wexel’s participarion on the workshop is part of her field research for project CyPeT.
