Ther researcher Sandra Boto has just published an article in the volume Perspetivas críticas sobre os estudos ibéricos, recently indexed in the bibliographic database Scopus.

Sandra Boto, responsible for the projects romanceiro.pt e GarrettOnline, has just published the article “Os nacionalismos ibéricos nos estudos sobre o romanceiro tradicional”, where she addresses the problems related to the history of collecting, editing and studying the Pan-Hispanic folk balladry from an Iberian perspective, analyzing different cases, such as Portuguese, Galician, or Catalan.

As pointed out in the preface to this volume by the organizers Cristina Martínez Tejero and Santiago Pérez Isasi, “the University of Algarve researcher highlights the biases that the national criterion introduced in the readings and analyzes carried out, contributing to the consolidation of a dominant position of the Castilian tradition and to the ‘peripheralization’ of the rest, which does not mean that these same models of analysis are not reproduced also in the initiatives developed from these other realities “.

The volume Perspetivas críticas sobre os estudos ibéricos (http://doi.org/10.30687/978-) is the result of an international colloquium that took place at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon from March 8 to 9, 2018. Its title was “Os estudos ibéricos a partir da periferia. Desafios epistemológicos e novos olhares nos estudos galegos, bascos e catalães.”
